More About Me

As principal of P.K. Wheeler Communications for nine years, I have applied my skills, knowledge and experience to assist clients with annual reports, marketing materials and corporate communications. After gaining experience at public relations firms and in corporate marketing, I identified my top strength: execution. I like to roll up my sleeves and turn plans into action. Founding a project-based service business was a logical next step…doing what I do best to help my clients succeed.

I have successfully assisted clients in fields from health care to financial services, from Internet retailing to real estate development, and I love being a part of so many different communications teams.

I'm a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, where I completed a joint degree program to earn a BSJ and MSJ during my four years at the school. It was a rigorous experience that included the most important training a writer can get: copy editing! The program trained me as a business reporter, a political reporter (I covered Capitol Hill from a Washington, D.C., newsroom during the first Bush administration) and a health/science writer.

After graduation, I began my career in health care public relations in Chicago, moved for a few years to Washington, D.C., to work for a top health care PR agency there, and then returned to Chicago. I launched my business there in 1999 and enjoyed working with some of the city’s most innovative companies and award-winning design firms. In 2006, my family and I moved to Milwaukee, where my husband works for Miller Brewing. While I still serve my Chicago-based clients, I am equally excited about opportunities to work with companies based in the Milwaukee area.
